Jam Designs Melbourne is a small home-based business which strives to produce and provide the highest quality products at competitive prices. I enjoy bringing people’s ideas to life and with that comes good rapport with customers and personal growth. Thus far I feel very fortunate to be working alongside some amazing companies and groups.
So why Jam Designs Melbourne?
The name Jam Designs Melbourne has been inspired from my husband’s family history. My husband’s late Grandfather was the Grandson to the late Henry Jones who created IXL Jam. I have carried on a small piece of history into my own business and I love that I have been able to do that.
The company was first established by Henry Jones in Hobart in 1891 as H. Jones & Company. The company derived from Jones’ employment with George Peacock’s jam factory from 1874. In 1895 the company purchased a building in Melbourne and commenced manufacture of jams and spreads. The building became known as The Jam Factory. IXL formed as a limited liability company in 1903. The IXL brand – ‘I excel in everything I do’ was Henry Jones’s personal motto.

I decided to started Jam Designs Melbourne after having a below average experience with a local cake topper business. The attitude, the lack of communication skills and knowledge along with everything else seemed like it was a real effort for this person. It really made me wonder why people put up with it? Perhaps they don’t know any different? As a paying customer I really felt like rather than trying to help produce something amazing and meaningful they wanted to get me out of their hair as soon as they could. This really gave me the initiative to go one better and to give people the buying experience that they deserve. There’s nothing better than a competitive market and to show others that there are other options around.
Prior to starting my own business, I worked and managed in retail with a real passion for customer satisfaction. My passion has definitely carried through to my business and I’ve stepped it up a notch which I think is reflected in my work and communications.
I love to be challenged and what better way is there to do that than creating personalised products for all sorts of occasions. Cake toppers are definitely my favourite thing to design and create. I love the individuality in each of them and I know how special it is to truly acknowledge that special event.
The one thing I really pride myself in is my attention to detail. This to me is so very important in all fields of life and something that is a huge must in this field of work. A bad cake topper can ruin an amazing cake! If I’m not happy with it, it doesn’t leave the house until I am and trust me there has been times that this is happened. It ensures that my customers won’t get anything less than what I would expect to receive.
Thank you to everyone who I have met so far. I have been fortunate to work alongside some amazing people and amazing businesses. This is a journey with no end in sight.
