Decal Application

Applying Your Decal

Your vinyl decal comes in three parts:

  • 1. The top layer is your transfer tape. This will be either a paper finish or clear.  It holds your decal together until it is applied.
  • 2. The middle layer is your actual decal. It is sandwiched between the transfer tape and the backing paper.
  • 3. The bottom layer is the backing paper made from either wax paper or thicker clear plastic. It protects the adhesive until the decal is ready to be applied.

Steps for application

  • Clean the area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Do not use Windex or similar products as it will leave a residue behind that will prevent the sticker from adhering well. Allow the surface to dry.
  • Prepare the sticker for application by firmly rubbing over the transfer tape with the side of your fist, bank card or cloth. This removes any air bubbles that may have formed and makes the sticker cling to the transfer tape by adding warmth.
  • Peel the white paper backing off the sticker – please be patient as this can be tedious. Only the vinyl and your transfer tape should remain. If any part of the graphic/sticker remains on the backing paper, lay that part back down carefully and use your fingers to firmly press to make sure it adheres to the transfer tape.
  • Place the decal onto the surface (TIP: You can use masking tape or something of the like so you have something to line your decal up with) and rub it in place firmly using your fist or bank card. Work from the centre of your decal and make your way out.
  • Remove the transfer tape slowly by starting from one corner and peeling it off on an angle. Only your decal should remain.

Application Tips:

  • Do not apply on extremely hot or cold surfaces. The ideal temperature for application is anywhere from 16*C – 32*C
  • Do not touch the adhesive backing as the oils from your skin will prevent your decal from sticking as well
  • DO NOT WASH for 48 hours
